Product Description
System Overview
The screen you are referring to is the central 7-inch color display for vehicles equipped with the optional Lexus Navigation System. Crucially, for these model years, this is a non-touchscreen unit. All interaction is handled via the Remote Touch Interface (RTI), which is the mouse-like controller located on the center console.
This screen serves as the visual hub for multiple vehicle systems.
Key Features and Functions
Screen Size: 7-inch, high-resolution color liquid-crystal display.
Navigation: Provides a full-screen map display with 3D building views in many urban areas. It also integrates real-time traffic and weather information, which is delivered via HD Radio signals, requiring no subscription.
Audio Display: Shows information for all audio sources, including AM/FM/HD Radio, Satellite Radio (if subscribed), CD player, USB/iPod, and Bluetooth audio streaming. It also displays album art for many sources via the integrated Gracenote database.
Climate Control Display: While the physical controls are separate, the screen provides a visual confirmation of all climate settings, including temperature, fan speed, and airflow mode.
Backup Camera: When the vehicle is in reverse, the screen automatically displays the feed from the rear-view camera with dynamic grid lines that move with the steering wheel.
Vehicle Settings: Provides access to a deep menu of customizable vehicle settings, such as door lock behavior, lighting preferences, and maintenance reminders.
Model Compatibility (Interchangeability)
This display screen is interchangeable across several Lexus models from this era, as they are built on the same platform and share dashboard architecture.
2014-2016 Lexus IS350
2014-2015 Lexus IS250
2016 Lexus IS200t (Replaced the IS250)
2015-2016 Lexus RC350
2016 Lexus RC200t
2015-2016 Lexus RC F
Important Note: You must replace a navigation screen with another navigation screen. The base model "Lexus Display Audio" screen, while physically the same size, may have different connections or software and is not directly compatible with a car that has the Navigation system's computer.
Common Issues and Considerations for Replacement
Anti-Glare Coating Failure: A common issue on these screens is the failure of the anti-glare coating, which can appear as bubbling, scratching, or a "sticky" look. This is purely cosmetic and does not affect the screen's function, but it is a common reason for replacement.
Plug-and-Play: For a like-for-like replacement (swapping a faulty navigation screen with a working one from the same model range), the process is generally plug-and-play and does not require special programming from a dealer.
Part Numbers: While many screens are interchangeable, it is always best practice to match the part number from the back of your original unit to the replacement. A common part number for this screen is 86130-53470 or 86130-53471, but several other compatible numbers exist.
