Important Notes for Replacement or Upgrade

1. CarPlay & Android Auto: All OEM head units for these model years (2017–2021) come standard with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

2. 6.5" to 8.0" Upgrade: Swapping from the standard 6.5-inch unit to the 8.0-inch unit (without navigation) is a very common and popular upgrade. It is often a plug-and-play swap, but the process may require transferring your original Telematics Unit (T-Box) to the new screen assembly to ensure your STARLINK Safety and Security functions (like SOS and remote start) remain active.

3. Navigation Unit Upgrade: If you are upgrading to the 8.0-inch unit with built-in navigation, the process is more complex. While the screen may plug in, you may need additional components or dealer programming to activate the factory GPS antenna and full navigation functionality, though many users simply use their phone's navigation via CarPlay/Android Auto.

4. Part Number: Subaru has many interchangeable part numbers (e.g., 86201FL62A, 86201FL63A, 86431FL650). The exact part number is crucial and must be matched to your trim, desired features, and vehicle year to ensure full function. Always check the number stamped on your original unit.
