Because BMW anti-theft immobilizer chips are write-protected from the factory, you must bring this key fob to a specialized automotive locksmith or diagnostic technician with specialized transponder programming hardware (such as Autohex or VVDI) to clear the donor VIN data memory block and rewrite it to match your car's engine computer. Terminal dealers will not program used keys.
